Out of curiosity, what was so bad about it? Was it just trashed by the previous five drift-bros who owned it, or is it just not as good of a car as everyone thinks it is? I've always been curious about SXs, but never saw one worth looking at or driving.

A bit of both. It was SO SLOW and guzzled gas like a V8. Handled amazingly, but it was also cheaply built. Buttons fall through into the dash/center console. Automatic seat belts sucked. Coolant overflow bottle got brittle and cracked, which is a no-bueno. Looked great, though.

Cool. I think that I wouldn't mind owning one one day if I have the time to completely rebuild it. It's just been so long since I've seen one that wasn't completely trashed. Underpowered I can live with. To a certain extent, I kind of prefer underpowered. I have more fun trying to hold speed than putting my foot down.

I liked it to be honest. My buddies and I all had 240sx's. 2 hatches, 1 coupe. They were tremendously easy to work on (and work on them we did =/ ). But we all agreed. TOO SLOW. Plus we live in California, so it's hard to get smog legal stuff to make them quicker.

Luckily, it's rapidly approaching exemption for my preferred states of residence. I can't imagine trying to mod a car in Cali. Is there a year range where it becomes exempt there, or are pretty much all cars built between the invention of the catalytic converter and now screwed?

I think it ends at 1975 (pre-cat years). You can import 25 year old cars, but that's a whole other headache.
